Tavern on the Green May Save Troubled Metreon

An iconic New York restaurant may be riding to the rescue when it comes to a troubled San Francisco shopping center. Tavern on the Green plans to open a 40,000 square foot restaurant on the Metreon's top floor, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

The new addition is part of an effort to reposition the Metreon, which has had trouble since its splashy opening in 1999. The center's troubles have been attributed to an odd mix of entertainment and retail, which some say has not panned out.
