A $55 million mortgage loan for the 202-room Ritz-Carlton Denver, located in downtown Denver at 1881 Curtis St., has just closed. Hotel brokerage and investment banking firm Hodges Ward Elliott orchestrated the financing on behalf of property owner CJS Hotel L.L.C., which completed the redevelopment of the hotel in January at a cost of approximately $75 million. The property had been a 367-room Embassy Suites Hotel until CJS commenced a program in 2006 to reinvent the hotel as an upscale destination. In addition to featuring the largest collection of guestrooms in Denver, the 19-story Ritz features 13,000 square feet of meeting space and a signature restaurant.
