Dallas-based Tyler Technologies Inc. plans to expand its West Texas presence with the development of a Class A office project in the city of Lubbock. No financials were released.

The project will include two 75,000-square-foot, three-story office buildings at the southwest corner of Chicago Avenue and 53rd Street in Lubbock.

"We currently have 190 employees in Lubbock in three different facilities and we've outgrown them. This is an opportunity for us to bring all of them together under one facility. It will give them a working environment on par with the caliber of our employees," Dustin Womble, executive vice president for Tyler, told CPN. "We'll occupy 40,000 to 45,000 square feet and we'll have about 25,000 leasable square feet that we'll grow into eventually in the next three to five years."

Construction on the first of the new buildings will begin in September of this year. The initial new building will house up to 350 employees, providing Tyler with space to accommodate planned long-term growth. Plans for the site include a twin second building which would be occupied by other tenants or provide space for long term expansion by Tyler.

The new office buildings will be the largest commercial green buildings in Lubbock and are designed to be Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified by the U.S. Green Building Council.

Among the buildings’ green components will include an integrated building energy management system; recycled construction debris and materials; regionally extracted and manufactured building components; alternative refrigerants; and automatic, solar powered faucets, among others.

Tyler Technologies provides information management solutions and services for local governments. The firm’s client base includes more than 7,000 local government offices throughout all 50 states, Canada, Puerto Rico and the United Kingdom.
