A major mixed-use project slated for south of the Dallas-Fort Worth airport has been given the green light by the Arlington City Council. Huffines Communities plans to build Viridian, a 2,000-acre development, on what is considered one of the country's largest infill areas.

According to the Dallas Business Journal, Viridian will consist of a residential community with 500,000 square feet of office, 200,000 square feet of retail, and an estimated completion value of $1.5 billion. Renowned town planner Peter Calthorpe will lead the project's design.
