Nonresidential Construction in Southeast Michigan Held Steady in 2007

The Southeast Michigan Council of Governments has concluded in its report, nonresidential development activity in Southeast Michigan 2007, that construction activity beyond the residential sector remained steady last year. According to data collected by the Detroit-based organization, the majority of the region's completed or in-progress developments, accounting for a total of 13.9 million square feet of new floorspace, are located in Oakland County, making it the most active of the seven counties in Southeast Michigan. Wayne County, home of Detroit, was a close second with 13.7 million square feet.
