Diversity a Major Factor in Comcast Tower Construction
June 18, 2008
Source: Philadelphia Business Journal

When setting out to build the 975-foot-high Comcast Center in Philadelphia, partners Comcast and Liberty Property Trust made a diversity in its construction crew a priority. They set goals of 25 percent inclusion of businesses owned by minorities, women, and the disabled for construction and 50 percent inclusion for design, furniture, fixtures, and equipment.

Construction contracts totaling nearly $100 million were awarded to 73 businesses owned by minorities, women, and the disabled. Those sectors also made up nearly half of the vendors on the Comcast project, according to the Philadelphia Business Journal.
