Asset Manager Signs on for 60,000SF at Philly's Mellon Bank Center
Oct 13, 2008

A new name is in line to be added to the tenant roster at Mellon Bank Center in Philadelphia, now that Aberdeen Asset Management Inc. has committed to 60,000 square feet of office space at the 1.3 million-square-foot Class A property. Aberdeen singed a 10-year lease with building owner 9 Penn Center Associates, staking a claim to two-and-one-half contiguous floors at 1735 Market St. The deal paves the way for Aberdeen's consolidation of its Metropolitan Philadelphia-based U.S. headquarters, currently housed in West Conshohocken and on the 37th floor of the 52-story Mellon Bank Center. Aberdeen had considered relocating outside of Philadelphia, but opted to stay put with the encouragement of the city and state, which provided an incentives package that included low-interest financing and grants.  The equity asset manager will begin making its move to Mellon Bank Center in July 2009. Jones Lang LaSalle represented Aberdeen in the lease agreement while Grubb & Ellis stood in for the landlord.
