Rohm & Haas, a major U.S. chemical company, has decided to shutter two plants and eliminate 925 jobs in North America, between 120 and 140 of which will be in the Philadelphia and Delaware areas. The company cited a shrinking paint market and troubled economic conditions for the decision.
The firm will close plants in California and Kentucky, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. In addition, it plans to consolidate manufacturing currently done at its Newark, Del., plant into a plant located in Taiwan.
