Census Bureau Signs Short-Term Leases for 12,000 SF

Gearing up for the 2010 Census, the U.S. Census Bureau has inked two separate lease deals with Whitestone REIT for a total of 12,000 square feet of office space at two Houston, Tex. locations. The Bureau will occupy nearly 5,300 square feet of space under a 27-month lease at Whitestone's Plaza Park Business Center, an office/warehouse property at 7509 South Freeway. The agency will also settle into approximately 6,700 square feet at Westbelt Plaza, an office/industrial facility on Sam Houston Parkway, for 28 months. UGL Equis represented the Bureau in the lease transaction, while Whitestone represented itself.

Storm Properties sold approximately 545,000 square feet of its industrial real estate portfolio to TA Associates Realty for more than $52 million. A total of 13 industrial properties located in Los Angeles and San Diego counties were sold.

The Dallas office of Holliday Fenoglio Fowler L.P. secured a $90.5 million refinancing for an industrial portfolio in Florida, Georgia and Texas totaling approximately 2.7 million square feet.
