Schafer Development Buys Jacksonville Raceway, Plans to Construct Industrial Business Park
July 1, 2008

Schafer Development closed on the former Jacksonville raceway, located at the intersection of I-95 and Pecan Park Road, with plans for a 1.5 million-square-foot Industrial Business Park. Operating as Gator Speedway, New Jacksonville Speedway and JAX Dragstrip, the property had most recently been owned in partnership by Lennar Homes and GMAC. The parcel had originally been earmarked for residential development but was stalled by the nation's difficult housing market.
