Moody National Cos. has expanded into Orange County office in Irvine, Calif. According to Moody CEO Brett Moody, the company was the second-largest producing sponsor in the TIC industry for 2006, and so a California office is critical to maintain Moody’s interaction with California representatives and investors.
Mary Smith has joined the new Moody Orange County office as general counsel of securities after serving as an attorney for Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps L.L.P., where she acted as counsel on over $1 billion of TIC acquisitions while working with industry attorney Darryl Steinhause. In the near future, Moody expects to hire additional industry specialists to join the new Orange County operation.
The new office is at Maine and McArthur in the Irvine CBD. Moody is headquartered in Houston and has other satellite offices located in Austin and Dallas.
Moody is active in various segments of the real estate industry. Most recently, the company acquired a portfolio of 20 Marriott-branded hotels for about $400 million from Raleigh, N.C.,-based Concord Hospitality Enterprises.
