Perkins+Will Hires Two

Perkins+Will announced that Mark Griffith has joined the practice as the local leader of the corporate, commercial and civic market sector. Griffith joins as a senior associate and will assume a key position in driving the firm’s growth of this market sector in Southern California. With more than 20 years of experience in designing a variety of project types, Griffith’s portfolio includes large scale mixed-use projects, convention/meeting spaces, resort hotels, restaurants, high tech manufacturing facilities, civic projects, theme park entertainment, night clubs, casinos, and theaters.

Additionally, Jon Pohl has joined the firm as associate principal  based in the Chicago office.  Pohl will assume a key position as a senior aviation project manager. Pohl brings more than 30 years of experience in aviation project management, and joins Perkins+Will from HOK, where he was a vice president and senior project manager responsible for executing several of the firm’s major airport designs. Pohl returns to Perkins+Will after his previous employment with the firm from 1990-1994.

New SEC Head Faces Tough Tasks
President-elect Barack Obama has picked Mary Schapiro to chair the Securities and Exchange Commission. Schaprio was a member of the SEC from 1988 to 1994--originally appointed by President Reagan--and is currently CEO of the non-governmental Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, a post she has held for about two years. She also chaired of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission for two years during the Clinton administration.
