Grubb & Ellis Co. has named veteran finance executive Matthew Engel senior vice president, accounting and finance and chief accounting officer, effective immediately. Engel will have responsibility for the company’s corporate accounting, tax, financial risk management and treasury functions. He reports to Richard Pehlke, executive vice president and chief financial officer. Engel joins Grubb & Ellis from H&R Block Inc., where he spent seven years in various senior finance leadership positions. Most recently, he was senior vice president, chief financial officer of the company’s Mortgage Services segment, where he oversaw the finance, treasury, accounting, business planning and corporate strategy functions.
