GFI Management Services said that Frederick Mehlman will be joining the company as chief executive officer. In this new role, Mehlman will be responsible for the company’s operations, asset management and accounting functions. The appointment came shortly after a partnership between GFI and The Carlyle Group was announced that will provide GFI with $300 million worth of equity to invest in assets through out the country, presenting the company with $1.5 billion in buying power. Mehlman joins GFI after 14 years at Maxx Properties, where he ran its management company, overseeing a national portfolio of more than 14,000 units and spearheaded the organization’s growth.
