Brown Rejoins Grubb as SVP, Retail Group

Ian Brown has rejoined Grubb & Ellis Co.'s Newport Beach office as a senior vice president with the retail group. Brown returns to Grubb & Ellis following a two-year stint as executive vice president and partner with DBN Development L.L.C., a commercial developer of retail, mixed-use, residential and office space in Southern California.  At DBN he was responsible for property acquisition initiatives, as well as overseeing the marketing and leasing of its portfolio of projects. Previously, he had been with Grubb & Ellis and ranked as one of the company’s top retail brokers nationally.  Prior to joining Grubb & Ellis in 1985, Brown held positions with Cushman & Wakefield and Xerox Corporation.

New SEC Head Faces Tough Tasks
President-elect Barack Obama has picked Mary Schapiro to chair the Securities and Exchange Commission. Schaprio was a member of the SEC from 1988 to 1994--originally appointed by President Reagan--and is currently CEO of the non-governmental Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, a post she has held for about two years. She also chaired of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission for two years during the Clinton administration.
